The Eye of the Ocean Jigsaw Puzzle features the detailed illustration of the mysterious sailing island.

The box is an integral part of the object. Fully printed on every side (in and out) and finished with gold foil and embossed details, its proportions are based on a standard poker-size playing card tuck box — creating the impression of a giant deck of cards, with a design inspired by the Solis edition from The Eye of the Ocean.
Beyond its role as puzzle packaging, the box was specifically dimensioned to accommodate 27 standard poker-size decks, giving it a second life as a substantial collector’s storage box.

The 1000 puzzle pieces are supplied inside a cotton pouch, avoiding disposable plastic packaging inside the box. Only the outer protective wrapping uses plastic.

Made as a premium collectible rather than a conventional mass-market puzzle, every aspect — from the illustration to the packaging, materials and finishing — was designed to make the object part of The Eye of the Ocean collection itself.

Designer’s Recommendation

I did the puzzle myself, so here are a few tips from the designer’s point of view.

The full illustration is extremely detailed, and I know some of the smaller details can be hard to see in the reference image printed on the back of the box.

I recommend using a magnifying glass or your smartphone to help with the tiny details — especially if you’re over 40 and your close-up vision is starting to betray you, like mine. :)

With your purchase, I’ve also included a digital download: a large 5 MB reference image that you can explore on your smartphone or tablet. It’s not intended for printing, but it’s very useful for zooming in and checking all the tiny architectural details on the map. Make sure you save it in your photo library, the browser shows a low-resolution preview.
